Minister P. Sunitha breaks down during her briefing at the Media Point on the Assembly premises while referring to the comments made by YSRC MLA Roja on Monday.

Minister for Mines and Women Empowerment Peethala Sujataha on Monday broke down while refuting the allegations made against her by YSRC MLA Roja.

Addressing media on the Assembly premises, she said she would quit as Minister if Ms. Roja proved her allegations. She said she was working with honesty and sincerity under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who is known for zero tolerance towards corruption.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam legislator Anita sought Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao’s permission to move a privilege motion against Ms. Roja, for her intemperate remarks and actions against the Women and Child Welfare Minister.

Raising the issue in Assembly after the question hour, she slammed Ms. Roja for showing ‘chappal’ to the Minister and calling the TDP legislators ‘rowdies’. The YSRC member had insulted a Dalit Minister and a case under SC/ST Act should be registered against her, Ms. Anita demanded. She also criticised Ms. Roja for bringing some unknown persons into the Assembly premises and posing for pictures with them.

Deputy Speaker M. Buddha Prasad promised to examine the rules and take necessary action.
