Nauru's former magistrate speaks out

The former magistrate of Nauru, Peter Law, joined the Australian Greens in calling for a Senate inquiry into the situation on Nauru.

Just hours later, the Prime Minister Tony Abbott confirmed that he was working with the government in Nauru to prevent the mistreatment of asylum seekers being held on the island.

Mr Abbott was responding to a question on last week's Moss Review which found the asylum seekers claims of sexual assault and abuse to be credible and convincing, though it could not verify them.

Peter Law spent three-and-a-half years on Nauru, but he was sacked and deported earlier this year.
