MDI Gurgaon, one of the top Indian Business schools, bid adieu to its graduating batch during the convocation held on March 21 at MDI campus.

Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Arun Jaitley was the Chief Guest and provided an insightful understanding of the current scenario in banking, finance and management in India. He also spoke on the new business challenges in the market today.

“In the changed environment of India, we have to struggle to create institution of excellence. The level of competition has gone up and you have to beat the next best,” said Jaitely during his address.

Congratulating the students for their placements, he added “The whole world will be your market place and you have to decide the pace for you to embark your career.”

The convocation conferred diplomas on the students of the seven programmes of MDI: PGPM, PGP-HRM, PGP-IM, PGPM-PT, NMP/EM, PGP-PPM and the doctoral programmes (FPM/EFPM). This year MDI Gurgaon conferred Diplomas on 578 students and participants from these programmes including 7 Fellow scholars.

“All the students out of a batch of 336 have been placed with reputed companies with highest salary touching Rs. 25.18 lakh per annum and an average salary of Rs 16.86 lakh for our PGDM programmes which in comparison to last year is 15 per cent higher," said C P Shrimali, Director MDI. "About 145 companies came for recruitment, out of which 53 companies were first time recruiters.”

This year, a total of 71 students took the pre-placement offers and a meagre 8 students decided to plunge into entrepreneurship. The batch comprised 239 students in the flagship PGPM course, 60 in the PGP-HRM course and 37 in the PGP-IM course.

Niche profiles in finance, sales and marketing, consulting and operations were offered along with big names in the FMCG sector recruiting for their HR profiles like Nestlé and Snapdeal which made the highest number of offers, recruiting 26 students for various roles.
