Even as a CD released by former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy put Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash in the dock, former Minister and JDS leader K. Srinivasa Gowda has released pages of the diary of a police officer which speaks about Mr. Prakash’s threats to the senior police official.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, Mr. Gowda said Mr. Prakash had put pressure on the then Mulbagal DySP Govindaiah to collect ‘hafta’ from sand mafia when he (Prakash) was a Minister in 2011. To prove his charge against the legislator, Mr. Gowda displayed some pages of the diary in which Mr. Govindaiah had mentioned the threats.

On another occasion, Mr. Prakash also scolded Mr. Govindaiah for not providing money for by-elections to the Vemagal seat of the Zilla Panchayat, Gowda said.

The Speaker of Legislative Assembly should initiate appropriate action against Mr. Prakash for threatening a police official.

Appeal to CBI

Charging that the direct and indirect pressures by Mr. Prakash and Bangarpet MLA K.M. Narayanaswamy also contributed to the transfer of Deputy Commissioner D.K. Ravi, the former Agriculture Minister said CBI should take into consideration these aspects in its investigation in connection with mysterious death of the IAS officer. “Both these legislators should be disqualified from their membership of Legislative Assembly”, he said.
