''MoH fails to provide names of those infected with HIVAIDS''

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Nov 4: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subeeh has said the Health Ministry did not respond to a letter submitted by Ministry of Social Affairs asking for the names of some 2000 employees infected with HIV/AIDS and phthisis reports Al- Qabas daily.

In a statement Al-Subeeh noted her ministry earlier addressed the Ministry of Health to provide the list of names of concerned employees and the company owners in an initial step toward canceling their permits. She added Public Authority for Manpower has no data on the employees and their employers in records.

As regards health procedures followed before an employee is allowed to enter the country Al-Subeeh explained the employer applies for entry visa from the Immigration Department in the Ministry of Interior and after the work permit has been issued in line with ministerial decree number 200/2011 the applicant will visit the Kuwaiti Embassy or Consulate in his country to certify the entry visa and work permit.

Prior to certifying the work permit the employee must undergo medical checkup at health centers accredited by the Kuwait Embassy or consulate. She added the entry visa and work permit are certified if the employee passes the medical checkup but in case the employee fails the medical checkup the Foreign Ministry informs the Health Ministry in Kuwait and Interior Ministry to cancel the entry visa and the employee will be listed as medically unfit to enter Kuwait.

She affirmed that the role of Public Authority for Manpower is limited to issuing work permit and the sector has nothing to do with the medical checkups employees are required to undertake before coming to Kuwait. She also said the Health Ministry is in charge of informing the manpower department in such cases.
