NASHIK: The Ambad industrial estate of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is likely to get a standby fire station until the proposed one is constructed.
After the demand by industrial bodies for the standby fire station during the Zilla Udyog Mitra (ZUM) meeting last week, officials present had expressed their inability to provide a standby fire tender due to shortage of manpower in the fire brigade.
Collector Deependra Singh Kushwah had immediately contacted civic chief Praveen Gedam, who assured the former of taking a call on the issue positively. He also assured industrialists of providing a standby fire station for provisions under the Kumbh Mela for a year from July.
The state industry body has identified a 5,700 sq-ft plot in Ambad MIDC area for a proposed fire station located in the jurisdiction of theNMC. The MIDC has already started a tender process for the construction of the fire station, but it may take around a year-and-a-half to get operational. There are around 1,500 small, medium and large industrial units in Ambad industrial estate.
MIDC executive engineer (Nashik region) P R Bandopiya said, “We have finalised a tender for construction of the new fire station in Ambad MIDC. The proposal has been sent to our head office for approval.”
Ambad Industries & Manufacturers’ Association (AIMA) president Vivek Patil said, “Industrial losses could be saved in case of fire incidents if they get services within a few minutes. two. The NMC should provide a standby fire tender.”
