A 70-year-old farmer has lost his left eye while fighting off two leopards with only his walking stick at Pali village, Pithoragarh.

ALMORA: A 70-year-old farmer has lost his left eye while fighting off two leopards with only his walking stick at Pali village, Pithoragarh. Dhan Singh, a resident of Gangolihaat's Jamadkot, was on his way to Pali, around 3km from his home, on Sunday around 7am when the big cats pounced on him.
According to villagers, Singh battled the leopards for nearly 15 minutes. Hearing the septuagenarian's cries for help, the villagers rushed to the spot and on seeing the crowd the ani mals escaped into the forest.
The villagers rushed Singh to a health centre, where he was given first-aid and later transferred to the Pithoragarh hospital, where he was being treated for multiple injuries, including lacerations on legs, waist and back.
