Modernization of Railways Promoted in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- A project to modernize railways is under way in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Jang Won Sam, an official of the Ministry of Railways, told KCNA that non-point of contact rails were laid between Yomju and Naejung stations for the first time in the country last year as part of the modernization.

Non-point of contact rails were also laid in the sections of Sinryonpho-Unsan, Ryokpho-Ryuso, Jongbang-Sariwon and Taegyo-Sinanju, covering tens of kilometers, he said.

It is scheduled to lay the rails in more than 70 kilometers of sections under the Pyongyang, Hamhung and Kaechon railway bureaus this year.
