Man killed in Conroe ATV crash

A Colorado man died in an ATV crash in Conroe, authorities said Monday.

Allen Martin Jeffrey Gilbert, 22, was killed about 4:30 p.m. at the 3 Palms Action Sports Park, 15100 S. IH-45, Conroe police said.

Gilbert, known as A.J., died while attempting a jump on the dirt track. Conroe police said he landed incorrectly on the front end of the four-wheeler. It caused the back end to flip over.

Gilbert died instantly when the ATV landed on him, Conroe police said.

He was wearing a helmet and other required safety gear at the time of the fatal crash, officials said.

Conroe police said Gilbert was from Hartsel, Colo., located southwest of Denver. He had been staying with family members in the area when he died.
