The annual Vairamudi Utsav at the Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple in Melkote will be held on March 30.

The 13-day Vairamudi Brahmotsav will begin on March 25 and continue till April 6, H.L. Nagaraju, Assistant Commissioner of (Revenue), told presspersons at Pandavapura on Monday.

The Mandya district administration and the Sri Cheluva Narayana Swamy Temple Trust in Melkote will provide all the facilities to the devotees, he said.

Special buses

Thousands of people from neighbouring Tamil Nadu and different different parts of Karnataka will be visiting Melkote to witness the historical Sri Vairamudi Kireetadharna Mahotsava Padiyetta on March 30. Therefore, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would be operating special buses from Melkote to Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore, he said.

The deity would be adorned with a diamond-studded crown during the padiyetta. The district administration would be ensuring continuous supply of drinking water and creating toilet facilities to visitors, besides arranging special transport facilities to persons living with physical disabilities, he said. Meanwhile, the district administration has banned the use of plastic covers during the utsav.

Mr. Nagaraju, along with Pandavapura tahsildar Shivakumaraswamy and others, participated in a ‘shramadaan’ programme and cleared the garbage and other waste materials dumped at various places in Melkote.
