Workers of the Congress staged a demonstration in front of the Railway Junction here on Monday to protest against the Centre over the Land Acquisition Bill and related amendments that they claimed were anti-farmer and pro-corporate.

Congress Thanjavur South District president T. Krishnasamy Vandayar led the demon in which party South District president Loganathan, City president Rajendran, former Pudukkottai MLA Samynathan, former Peravoorani MLA Singaram, panchayat union party unit presidents, and elected local body representatives participated in the demonstration and raised slogans denouncing the BJP-led Centre and wanted the Bill to be dropped altogether.
