Action against DEO for paper leak

March 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - KRISHNAGRI:

The District Education Officer, Hosur, and four others were suspended here in connection with last week’s arrest of four school teachers, including two invigilators, for sharing Plus Two question paper over a social network platform from the examination hall.

They are District Education Officer of Hosur, Vedakkan Dhanraj; District Education Office superintendent Chandrashekar, another staff member in DEO’s office Maadhu, CEO office assistant Ashok Kumar and assistant Ramana.

The action comes in the light of information that the two of the arrested invigilators were never part of the bona fide list of the department’s appointed invigilators.

Speaking to the media at the Collectorate here on Monday evening, Director of Education Devarajan said a police inquiry was under way.

According to an Education department official, the two invigilators Mahendran and Govindan were appointed based on an oral instruction over telephone from the office of the Hosur District Education Officer.

Even as there is no bar on appointing private school teachers as invigilators, the two school teachers of Hosur-based Vijay Vidhyalaya High School, in this case, were never part of the original list of invigilators, the source pointed out.

On Monday, the Plus Two board exam witnessed new batch of government teachers in three private school centres in the district.  “This was done to avoid any possibility of malpractices in the light of the recent events,” the CEO said.
