State revenue
minister Eknath Khadse has assured that the vacant posts in various government departments of Bhandara district would soon be filled up. Replying to a calling attention motion moved by MLA
Rajesh Kashiwar on Monday, the minister agreed that some of the key posts were lying vacant.
According to Khadse, 36 posts of medical officers in various government hospitals were vacant.
“There are 156 posts in the district of which 36 are vacant. We have decided to hire doctors on contract basis. The MBBS and MD students are also made to work at government hospitals as a part of their bond,” he said.
“70 posts of nurses were vacant. We filled them up by hiring nurses on eleven-month contract basis so that patients don’t suffer,” he added.
The post of
additional collector and four deputy collectors were also vacant. All the
deputy collector posts are related to rehabilitation. Orders were issued in December 2014 to fill up three posts. “Two of them were on leave and they have been asked to join duty immediately. The Nagpur
divisional commissioner has been asked to fill up the third post immediately,” he said.
The agriculture science centre, which is a central government agency, had 13 vacant posts. ICAR had taken steps to fill them up, Khadse added.
