RTC: Reaction to Tommy Smith giving up president and CEO jobs

Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans ...

Is Tommy Smith’s retirement as CEO and president of the Titans just the first domino, asks David Climer of The Tennessean.

Veteran linebacker James Harrison chose to return to the Steelers instead of jumping to the Titans to stick with Dick LeBeau, writes Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.

To which I say: I figured the Steelers would be moving on and that Harrison would come to Tennessee. But given a chance to stay in Pittsburgh, it makes perfect sense for him to stay.

Smith’s resignation was the right move executed in the wrong way, writes David Boclair of the Nashville Post: “Smith should have stood up and listed the reasons that it’s better he turns over the operation to someone with actual football experience. He should have publicly acknowledged that the franchise would be better with a CEO who lives and works here. He should have thanked the fans for their patience while he sorted out all of those things and more. And he should have done it all in a highly public manner.”

The Titans will have a private workout with Jameis Winston, writes Terry McCormick of 247 Sports.
