1. Veteran member of B.C.'s legislature Jenny Kwan will run for the NDP in the upcoming federal election. Kwan won a hard-fought nomination race on Sunday to represent the New Democrats in the riding of Vancouver East.

2. The Vancouver Canucks managed to avoid a second damaging loss to one of the NHL's worst teams on Sunday. Alexander Edler's shot glanced off the post and deflected off Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith’s back and in with 3:13 left to snap a tie, and the Canucks secured a 3-1 victory Sunday.

3. Friends and family are mourning the tragic loss of a young Vancouver Island ski racer who fell off a cliff on Blackcomb Mountain Saturday afternoon. Cole Anderson, 18, was an elite skier who was at Whistler over the weekend to train with his team.

4. The young Canadian man shot dead by U.S. border agents last week was wanted in the shocking murder of a Calgary teenager whose body was found burned two weeks ago. Jamison Childress, a 20-year-old from Prince George, B.C., slipped across the border into Washington state near the Sumas crossing on Thursday, set off a sensor, and allegedly tried to spray agents with an unknown chemical before he was fatally shot.

5. A group of B.C. brides has been burned after an Abbotsford company suddenly locked its doors and laid off its staff. Steele on Your Side tracked down the owner of Classic Party Rentals, Ron Wiebe. He admits the company has gone into bankruptcy and that brides should be making other arrangements.
