BEIJING (Web Desk) - Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing today (Monday), in an impressive ceremony commemorating the historic event in which a resolution was passed 75 years ago on 23rd March 1940 at Lahore by the Muslim League that lead ultimately to the creation of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Day ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem. Ambassador Masood Khalid hoisted the national flag and read out messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. Students from the Pakistan Embassy College in Beijing presented national songs on the occasion.

While addressing the participants, Ambassador Masood Khalid recounted the long and arduous struggle for Pakistan, and how the 23rd March resolution became a milestone in that struggle. He recalled the efforts and sacrifices for Pakistan of the great leader and founding father of the Muslims of the sub-continent Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said Quaid-e-Azam by dint of hard work and untiring efforts changed the course of history.

He also spoke about how Pakistan-China friendship gained strength over the years soon after independence and became a multi-dimensional, time-tested all-weather partnership. He told the participants that both countries were working hand in hand to pursue the common goals of economic development, well being of their people, and ensuring peace and security in the region. He urged the Pakistani community to make efforts to realize the dreams and scale the heights the founding fathers of the country had envisioned.

The ceremony was attended by participants from different walks of life including the Pakistani community, officials of the Embassy, their families and other distinguished guests. Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held at Pakistan’s Consulates in Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
