SIOLIM: The much anticipated cleanup of the Mapusa-Siolim roadside was finally implemented on Sunday with a 25-member team from the GSIDC appointed Bengaluru-based BVG, that collected plastic and wet waste on this ill-famed garbage-strewn stretch.
The road is a regular dumping ground for residents from Morjim, Arambol, Mandrem and Siolim. Some shacks in the area have a contractor who collect their garbage and dumps it every night at the site.
The unbearable stink, unsightly view in addition to the wild dogs and stray cattle that frequented the area make it a very dangerous route. The contract to the firm extends to inner roads as well.
