3 girls hacked to death in Deoria; two arrested

The police on Sunday arrested two people for brutally killing three girls in Barhaj, Deoria and were searching for the other two involved in the crime.

GORAKHPUR: The police on Sunday arrested two people for brutally killing three girls in Barhaj, Deoria and were searching for the other two involved in the crime. National SC/ST commission president PL Punia, visited Deoria and met family members of the girls. He announced Rs 10 lakh and a house to each deceased girl's family members. He also directed district magistrate and superintendent of police of Deoria to arrest all the accused soon and resolve the case.

Speaking to reporters, Deoria SP Dr Manoj Kumar said, "Two including Dheeraj, son of Markandey, resident of Barhaj and Ambreesh, son of Lal Chand, resident of Barhaj are under arrest and we are searching for two other accused, Sonu Harijan, son of Jaddu Nath, a resident of Barhaj and Raj Kokil, son of Shyamjeet, a resident of Barhaj."
Police added that Sonu loved a girl of the village and when she declined he killed her with an axe taking the help of three friends. When the other two girls of the village saw them killing the girl, they killed them too and threw the bodies in a drain near Piplabhulli and Katiyari village under Barhaj police station area in Deoria district.
"During postmortem, there were no signs of rape detected and the axe has been recovered by the police," said the SP.
The postmortem was done in the presence of Dr Shyam Bihari Upadhyaya from Lucknow and senior medico-legal expert Dr Gyasuddin from Lucknow. A five-member forensic team from Gorakhpur district also went to Deoria in this regard.
"I will write a letter to the chief minister regarding the case and justice will be done to the three girls." Punia said.
