Credit war between SAD, BJP harming state: Jakhar
JALANDHAR: Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar has alleged that Punjab was not getting Rs 1,200 crores from the Union government which were approved by the previous UPA government for providing amenities in cities under JNNURM due to the credit war between SAD and BJP in the state.
"The real reason that the state was not getting funds from the Union government is infighting between the alliance partners and their attempts to claim credit," Jakhar said while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.
He said that credit war between the alliance partners was also visible from the fact the Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal urged Prime Minster Narendra Modi to come to Khatkar Kalan on Monday but BJP got the venue of his visit shifted to Ferozepur. "The state is suffering due to their credit war," he said.
Jakhar also announced that the amount of the increased salary of Congress MLAs would be used in making SAD-BJP ministers visit the badly damaged roads in various cities and towns. "On one side the PM is announcing to build smart cities in the country but cities and towns in Punjab are turning from bad to worse under the SAD-BJP regime," he said.
