State Election Commissioner (SEC) K. Sasidharan Nair has disqualified three Congress members of Munroe Thuruthu grama panchayat in Kollam for supporting a no-confidence motion violating the party whip.
The Commission, on Thursday, disqualified Usha Shylock, Rajendran, and O. Valsala for supporting a no-trust motion piloted by the LDF against president Saradakutty on April 24 last.
The three members supported the motion violating the party whip and she was voted out. Another member Radhakrishnan took up the issue with the Commission, and the three members were disqualified from the contesting the local body elections for six years.
