What can be a better tribute to a movie moghul’s illustrious life than remembering his off-screen humane persona which remained untouched by success. Some spoke of his generous gestures while others shared moments which reflected the passionate and lively attitude of legendary producer D. Ramanaidu.

More than a month after the renowned thespian’s demise, his friends, family and admirers got nostalgic at a condolence meeting organised by T. Subbarami Reddy Lalithakala Parishat in the city on Sunday.

Industrialist and politician T. Subbarami Reddy recollected that their friendship began four decades ago and remained intact till date. “There can never be another producer like him. He was a jovial and down-to-earth person. He was involved in a lot of philanthropic work, but never believed in boasting about it.” Mr. Reddy also announced that an award will be constituted in the name of the late director.

Actor and TDP MP M. Murali Mohan shared an incident. “Once, a unit member of a film he was producing was in hospital. The patient had gangrene and doctors said his leg had to be amputated. When Ramanaidu came to know about this, he immediately responded and not only met him at the hospital but also took care of his hospital bills. He made a lot of donations. Even as a Member of Parliament, he spent the official funds and also from his own pocket for the development of his constituency,” he added.
