Sanskrit varsity budget denotes deficit

: The annual budget estimate of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady for the next fiscal year, passed by the Syndicate, anticipates an income of Rs. 174.62 crore and an expenditure of Rs. 187.52 crore, denoting a deficit of Rs. 12.9 crore.

The budget document presented by Edward Edezhath, convenor of the Syndicate Standing Committee on Finance, proposes introduction of two new programmes, Samskrithayanam 2015 and Entharo Mahanubhavulu for the expansion of Sanskrit education and introduction of legends in Indian classical music respectively.

The academic initiatives that have been proposed include launching of online open courses, in addition to Master of fine arts, PG Diploma in Journalism and Diploma in Ayurveda. Funds have been allotted for new hostels.
