Hundreds pay homage to Yusafali Kechery

: Hundreds of people from all walks of life paid homage to poet, lyricist, film director and producer Yusafali Kechery at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi here on Sunday.

Political leaders, including Minister for Cooperation C.N. Balakrishnan, Public Works Minister V.K.. Ebrahim Kunju, Therambil Ramakrishnan. T.N. Prathapan, M.P. Vincent and K.V. Abadul Khader, MLAs, placed wreath on his body.

P.A. Madhavan, MLA, placed a wreath on behalf of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran wrapped the Congress flag on the body at his residence at Kechery.

Others who paid tributes include Malayalam University Vice-Chancellor K. Jayakumar, KPCC general secretaries V. Balram, Padmaja Venugopal, KPCC spokesperson Pandalam Sudhakaran, DCC president O. Abdurahiman Kutty, UDF district chairman Joseph Challissery, Mayor Rajan J. Pallan, and district panchayat president C.C. Sreekumar.

Many people from the film field also bid adieu to the lyricist. They included directors Vinayan, Kamal, Sibi Malayil, K.B. Madhu, actors Devan and Irshad, lyricist Shibu Chakravarthy, Mohan Sithara and Vidhyadharan.

He was buried at the Pattikkara Juma Masjid.
