DJB suspends 3 staffers

March 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Three Delhi Jal Board employees were suspended on Saturday on charges of corruption.

The action was taken on the complaint of Kalyanpuri resident Sohan Pal, who told Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 19 about officials asking him for a bribe. Meter readers Satish Sharma and Umesh Sharma allegedly asked him for a bribe of Rs. 6,000 after he complained about spiralling water bills. The Government said in a statement that facts pointed towards malicious intentions on the part of the meter readers. “The role of meter inspector Vinod Kumar was also found to be suspicious since he should have checked such a high bill amount,” said the government. — Staff Reporter
