An 80-year-old former Panjab University sports department director committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a speeding train near Indira Colony on Sunday morning.

PANCHKULA: An 80-year-old former Panjab University sports department director committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a speeding train near Indira Colony on Sunday morning.
Gurbaksh Singh, a resident of Modern Housing Complex in Manimajra, flung himself before the Himalayan Queen at 10:30 am. Police recovered a suicide note that stated, "I am depressed and no one is responsible for my death." Gurbaksh stayed with his wife while their only son lived in Singapore with his wife.
He was a regular walker and could always be spotted at 8am in the park near his house, police said.
The body was sent to General Hospital, Sector 6, where the post-mortem examination was conducted. Government railway police SHO Raj Kumar, said, "We have informed the wife. The body will be handed over to the family after the arrival of his son." The police have registered a case of suicide.
