J&K terror attack: Slain CRPF constable was excited about brother’s wedding

Suraj’s cousin Ganesh, who is a police constable said, “His elder brother Jeevan will get married soon and Suraj was excited. He had come home and had left just 10 days ago. All he spoke about was Jeevan’s marriage…Hours before he was killed, he had called me to ask about my daughter, who was not well then. Even then we spoke about Jeevan’s marriage and he was asking me how many days leave he should ask. I have lost a friend and a brother.”

Rajabhau Kharat, the neighbour of Mohite family at their home in Siddhnathwadi in Wai taluka, said, “The family is originally from Sartale in Jawali and shifted here many years ago. Suraj’s father Sarjerao was a labourer and used to work at construction sites. He passed away few years ago.”

Kharat added, “Suraj was of very helping nature and had made us all proud when he got his first posting in Jammu and Kashmir. His death has come as a shock for us.” Wai tehsildar, Sadashiv Padadaune said, “Mohite is survived by his mother Usha (45), grandmother Vanchalabai (75) and brother Jeevan. He had completed his education till Class 12 from Kisan Veer College in Wai and was recruited in CRPF in 2013.”

Deputy Commandant T K Solanki who was part of the CRPF team that had gone to Satara said, “The family had expressed their wish that the body be first taken to their ancestral village.”
