CPM condemns VS Achuthanandan walkout from party meet

VS had walked out of the party conference after a party resolution accused him of having an 'anti-party attitude'.

In a setback to former Kerala CM V S Achuthanandan, the CPM Sunday strongly condemned his move of walking out of the party’s state conference meeting last month.

A two-day Central Committee meeting that ended on Sunday, took up Achuthanandan’s letter of protest and rejected it. “What VS did was a grave breach of party’s disciplinary norms. His explanation was not satisfactory. There is no justification in his walkout,” CPM national secretary Prakash Karat said after the meeting.

“There is no need to intervene in the matters expressed in the letter. The allegations by VS were discussed earlier,”he added.

Achuthanandan said he would respond later. He has been asked to continue as opposition leader in the assembly till the politburo commission files its report. Achuthanandan had walked out of the 21st state party conference at Alappuzha last month after a party resolution accused him of having an “anti-party attitude”.
