Mukhiya’s husband, his accomplice killed

PURNIA: Some unidentified assailants allegedly shot dead a muscle-flexing goon and his pillion-riding associate near a culvert at Rahik Chowk under Mohanpur police outpost in Dhamdaha subdivision in Purnia district around 7.30 on Saturday night.
Muscle-flexing goon Wakil Singh, who is the husband of Bhauwa Parwal panchayat mukhiya Usha Devi, was riding a motorbike from Rupauli to native village Anjhari along with his associate Ishaq, when some unidentified assailants indiscriminately sprayed bullets on them, police said.
Wakil Singh died on the spot while Ishaq succumbed to the injuries at a Rupauli hospital on the night, police said and added Wakil was released on bail only few months back.
Purnia SP, who along with DM Rajesh Kumar had rushed to the spot on the night, on Sunday said that an STF has been formed under the leadership of Dhamdaha ASP Dilnawaz Ahmad which would explore all possible angles behind the gruesome killings. Forensic science laboratory (FSL) officials, too, have been summoned, the SP said. The assailants had very strategically chosen a very desolate place to target them and disappeared taking advantage of the darkness. They, however, left behind their bike, police said.
