The City of Edmonton will not be issuing a seasonal parking ban following a heavy snowfall over the weekend.

A snowfall warning issued Sunday by Environment Canada indicated up to 15 centimetres was expected in the Capital Region.

The City of Edmonton said roadway crews had been working on arterial roads and collector/bus routes.

Officials also said sanding began Friday and plowing began once there was over three centimeters of snow accumulated.

The City’s director of roadway maintenance told CTV News the plan was to get the roads clear for Monday morning commuters.

“We have 90 pieces of equipment on the road and the focus is maintaining mobility,” Bob Dunford said.

“We will do our best to make sure everything is good, everybody is mobile for the morning commute.”

According to a press release issued by the City said that crews have been doubled and hired graders brought in overnight on Sunday to help prepare for the Monday morning commute.

The snowfall warning ended at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
