Endowment lecture: S.R. Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, delivered an endowment lecture on the theme “Leadership Challenges in the Contemporary Business Scenario”at NSAM First Grade College at Nitte in Udupi district on March 18.

In his lecture, Mr. Bansal said that leaders were observed by people and their behaviour should be a role model for others. A sincere and punctual person always led from the front.

He pointed out that the youth were quick and smart. They had the ability to think out of the box. But they lacked experience, which they would gain with time. Youth should be determined and dedicated, he added.

Veena B.K., college principal, welcomed the gathering. M.S. Moodithaya, Registrar of Nitte University, presided over the function. Ramesh M., senior grade lecturer, Department of Commerce and Management, delivered the vote of thanks.

Women’s Day: The School of Management (SOM), Manipal University, celebrated International Women’s Day in Manipal on March 8. A forum “Unleashing Potential of Women – Association for Value Enhancement” (UPWAVE) was launched at the Institute on the occasion.

UPWAVE is an arm of Platform of Women Entrepreneurs (POWER), which works with organisational support of the School of Management. The UPWAVE forum champions entrepreneurship through targeted programmes.

It collectively addresses unemployment among women by providing them with opportunities to develop their leadership skills. It also trains them in marketable job-oriented skills, and provides access to resources and linkages.

Annual Day: The School of Management (SOM), Manipal University, celebrated its Annual Day in Manipal on March 16.

Speaking on the occasion, C.M. Natarajan, HR Manager, BASF India Ltd., said that the changing role of Human Resources Department entailed development of every employee. An individual in an organisation must have good academic credentials and a positive attitude.

Jayson M., AGM-HR at HCG Group of Hospitals, G.K. Prabhu, Registrar of Manipal University, and K.V.M Varambally, Director of SOM, were present.

The inauguration was followed by a prize distribution ceremony and cultural programme.
