SURAT: Police booked an unidentified person on Saturday who made a threat call in Ahmedabad to mother of an income tax officer on Friday night. The IT officer is currently posted in Surat as IT inspector and is investigating property and financial documents recovered by police in 2013 from Asaram Ashram in Motera of Ahmedabad. Total 42 bundles of property and financial documents were recovered from the Ashram by a team of Surat police.

Police have registered complaint of Prem Tulsinath, 42, a resident of Majuragate, and started investigation. The caller made a call to Ahmedabad on land line number on Friday night. The phone was received by mother of the complainant. The caller told the officer’s mother that, “I am calling from Surat. Ask your son to work calmly otherwise he will have to loose life. Don’t come in my way.”
Soon the officer’s mother informed her son in Surat and the complainant lodged police. Police investigation revealed that the complainant is investigating the documents since last one year. “The caller did not refer to any specific investigation but just warned about his work,” said police.
“The officer is working only on the documents of Sai and Asaram since last many months and it seems that the threat is related to that case only. However, it will get clear once the caller is nabbed,” said M R Patel, police sub inspector of Umra police station.
Police identified a number 9016624235 from which the call was made. The sim-card and the number belong to Manoj Verma, a resident of Pandesara area. Manoj is an embroidery machine mechanic. He told police that he purchased the number one and half year ago for his cousin Ravi Verma, a embroidery machine operator. They stayed together at that time.
Later due to some differences Ravi went to live at some other place and lost the sim-card with phone around a year ago. “Ravi did not register police complaint of missing of phone and sim-card but informed the mobile service provider. However, the card was not discontinued since it was on name of Manoj and the service provider need his approval to discontinue service. The card was in use since then by some unidentified person,” said police.
Checking call data records and location of the phone police are working to trace the caller. The phone is switched off since Saturday.
