LAHORE: A mediocre six-event card has been drawn up for the 29th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

According to the prospectus issued by the Lahore Race Club (LRC), three important events — the Eclipse Stakes Of Pakistan, a handicap race for four-year-old and above, the Desert Prince Cup for class four horses and the Madhu Bala Plate for class five animals were to feature at this Sunday’s races but have all been declared void for wants of required entries.

That left only six events to be staged, two belonging to class six horses to be gone over 1,200 metres and four for class seven runners to be contested over 1,100 metres. Barring one race, the second in racing order the field has only seven runners while on other races the number of contestants is well over a dozen.

In all 71 horses are to take part in Sunday’ races.

Meanwhile, the LRC has notified that the last date for the receipt of entries for the Pakistan Derby 2016 and the 1000 Guineas Of Pakistan 2016 is March 31 and directed owners and trainers desirous to enter their colts and fillies in events to submit their entries by the end of the current month.

The first race will be held at 1.00pm.
