JAMMU, Mar 21: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched new i20 Active, a sports styled version of its premium hatchback i20, priced starting from Rs 6.38 lakh (ex-showrom Delhi).
Petrol variants of the car are priced between Rs 6.38 to 7.09 lakh while diesel versions are in the range of Rs 7.61 to 8.80 lakh.
The new version of i20 was launched by Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga at KC Hyundai Jammu in the presence of Raju Chowdhary, managing director, Arjun Chowdhary, director and senior functionaries of KC Hyundai.
“The i20 Active will be a trend setter model reflecting Hyundai’s modern premium brand direction and will propel Hyundai’s growth in India”, HMIL MD and CEO, BS Seo told reporters in the National Capital New Delhi.
He further said that i20 Active will compete with the likes of Toyota, Etios Cross, Volkswagen, Cross Polo and Fiat Aventura, which are priced in the range of Rs 6.23 lakh and Rs 8.5 lakh, respectively.
He added that Hyundai, which is eyeing a sales milestone of 5 lakh units in domestic car market, is gearing up for a full play in the fast emerging sports utility vehicle segment to gold volumes.
“The i20 Active boasts a higher ground clearance, more rugged bodywork and tuned 1.2 litre petrol and the 1.4 litre diesel engines. It gets mildly spruced up interiors as well, but the equipment list remains largely similar to the elite i20. Hyundai has also introduced new colour options with the i20 Active viz. brown, black and grey”, he stated.
He further disclosed that with i20 Active, the company plans to address lower-end customers, who are looking for a sporty and stylish vehicle.
