The Medak district administration has a task at hand with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao unveiling a grand plan for the development of the Gajwel Assembly constituency. “The planning, which includes the incorporation of an Education City, will be completed within the next few weeks,” asserts Collector Rahul Bojja.

The Education City proposed at Sangapur, about 2 km from the town headquarters, will house about 2,000 students. According to officials, this education hub will come up in 30 to 35 acres.

The proposal includes the construction of buildings in about 50,000 sft to accommodate primary and high schools, junior and degree colleges and a residential school besides the existing polytechnic college. Other facilities include a playground, accommodation for teachers with running water and other facilities.

An integrated office complex, housing 30 out of the 39 offices, is also planned as part of the development plans. A cultural complex with two auditoriums – with seating capacities of 500 and 1,200 respectively- will be constructed with a parking lot with part of the funding – Rs. 4.5 crore coming from the Union government while the State government will contribute the remaining Rs. 2 crore. “We actually need Rs. 100 crore to initiate all developments that go into making Gajwel a model constituency,” the Collector told The Hindu .

The existing degree college located on the main road will be transformed into a 100-bed hospital while the existing hospital will become a mother and child care speciality centre. The Gajwel rural police station will be shifted to the Tahsildar’s office, which itself will become part of the integrated office complex in future.

New residential quarters for rural policemen will come up near the existing Tahsildar office.

The Pandavulacheruvu, located on the outskirts of the town, will be developed on the lines of Tank Bund at Hyderabad with all facilities like lighting, walking and seating space as per the plan.

With the establishment of the Gajwel Area Development Authority (GADA), the activity for development of the constituency has commenced.
