Jenda Pai Kapiraju Movie Review

Critic's Rating: 2.5/5
Story: The film narrates the story of Aravind Shivashankar, a honest man, who tries to expose the corrupt officials in the government; however, he realises that his own life is in jeopardy when his look-alike enters the scene.

Movie Review: Indumathi (Amala Paul) is aghast. She could get away giving the traffic cop the Rs 100 he demands a bribe. When she returns to the same place in the evening, Aravind Shivashankar (Nani) is still trying to convince the traffic cop that he has all the relevant vehicle papers . The cop wants a bribe which Aravind refuses to pay..

What follows is harassment for Aravind who is convinced honesty is the best policy. Because of his adamant nature, the police make a murderous attempt on him but he survives – thanks to Indumathi. She pleads with him to live as the society does – adjusting with corruption. That results in a break of relationship as he distances himself from her. Aravind’s friend Ramachary (Vennela Kishore) also tries to make him change his mind. But Aravind now plans for a bigger thing. A group of like-minded people, who are also from the government, join Aravind in his mission to expose the corrupt. They gather video evidence. Newscaster (Shiva Balaji) who works for a television channel is the media backbone for the effort. But the corrupt people who have been identified will not give up that easily. Aravind gets fake government documents created on a non-existent person’s name and the officials had blindly signed on the documents just because they were given money. Just when Aravind thinks he will have the last laugh, the victims of his corruption sting think of a plan. They identify a look-alike of the person in the photograph of the fake documents just so that they can prove to the court that the person indeed exists. Will the brilliant idea work for them? It almost does.

Nani gets to play a double role in this movie and is completely convincing as the simpleton refusing to bribe anyone. In his other role, he’s got a different personal altogether. Amala Paul has a significant role and she sails through it with ease. While there have been several movies emphasizing the need to fight corruption, director Samuthirikani also gets into the root causes of corruption. The audience is convinced. What’s not convincing is the judge suggesting that the culprits in the corruption cases should be stripped of their voting rights and also their Indian citizenship. We’ve not heard something like this happening before!
