Kolkata: The condition of CPI-M leader Gautam Deb, who is down with swine flu, is improving, a hospital official said on Saturday.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist leader, who was the housing minister in the erstwhile Left Front government, was admitted to the critical care unit of a private hospital here on Tuesday morning, after complaining of respiratory distress.
"He is stable. His condition has improved. He no longer requires oxygen support. His dietary intake is also gradually normalising," the official said.
Swine flu has claimed 24 lives in West Bengal since January and the number of positive cases has gone up to 406.
