Guernsey FC's outside hopes of a place in the Isthmian League Division One South play-offs appear to be over after they lost 2-1 at home to Merstham.

The fourth-placed visitors took the lead just before half-time thanks to a goal from Taurean Roberts.

Fabio Saraiva scored direct from his 78th minute corner to double the advantage before Ross Allen missed a penalty for Guernsey.

Matt Loaring reduced the deficit late on with an impressive solo effort.

The Guernsey winger dribbled from inside his own half before firing home what was his 40th goal for the club.

The loss, Guernsey's fourth in five games, leaves the ninth-placed islanders 11 points off the final play-off place with six games to go, fewer games left than any of their rivals.
