Zambian superstar Mampi to wow Seychellois crowd |21 March 2015

Zambian superstar Mampi whose song entitled Walilowelela is well-known among Seychellois, will perform for the local crowd on March 28.

This will be during the Airtel Music Awards 2014 finals show at the International Conference Centre. The organisers have said they have brought in Mampi to give an additional twist to the evening.

Mirriam Mukape, fondly known as Mampi, is a Zambian R&B singer and winner of Best Female Artist at the Zambian Music Awards, and is also a three-time Zambian Ngoma Awards winner.

Known for her stylish outfits both on-and-off stage, Mampi will, during the March 28 awards ceremony, perform live accompanied by local band Zenith, but she will sing only play back during the after-party at the Tequila Boom.

“The presence of Mampi at the awards ceremony will enhance the international exposure of the awards and most importantly be used as an inspiration for our local artists to look upon to,” writes a press release from the organisers.

During her stay in Seychelles, Mampi, whose song ‘Swirilili‘ also enjoyed a big success, will meet and engage with the local artists as well as officials of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

Furthermore, she will take part in selected corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities organised by Airtel Seychelles and Seychelles Breweries.
Preparations for the various activities together with the grand finale are ongoing and the SMS voting for ‘The People’s Choice’ category will start in the immediate future.

As the Zenith band will also accompany all the finalists, the organisers are calling on members of the public to support this third awards ceremony so as to make it a great success and even surpass the previous ones.
