Locals are slowly but surely spreading their wings and enjoying much more social activities  besides parties and clubs.

These individuals are now making sure that they fuse fun and a healthy lifestyle. Which better way to do that than with dance!
Dance has always been an art form for the select few until recently where the world has become so connected through social media that we now realise how easy it is to be anything you want to be.  Anyone can take up a dance class and be brilliant at it. From hip hop, to ramba, salsa to ballroom and for all ages too.

Fitness fanatic Zama Potgieter has always loved dance and as someone who is an addicted runner and gym enthusiast, she decided to open her own dance studio.

Teaching

Studio-Z, as it is called, is situated in Manzini Club and teaches everyone. from professionals who want to just practice and polish up, to amateurs who are learning, to two step.
“I came up with STUDIO-Z with the aim of teaching dance to young people and those who were young at heart and looking for a fun workout. Growing up I was passionate in dance, being in a girl group ‘NO OFFENCE” travelling across Swaziland to perform in beauty pageants and working with P.S.I. I got the opportunity to be opening acts for artists such as Mandoza, Thembi Seete and Zola,” says the bubbly Zama.

Studio-Z has already worked with  schools such as Ubombo Primary School for their  campout performance, Enjabulweni for the  Enjabulweni’s Got Talent Competition and also helped choreograph a performance by Buhlebetive dance group for His Majesty King Mswati III birthday performance.

“It  has really taken off and I cannot be more happier, I just want more and more people to come and join us. Dance is more than just fun but is an intense all-body workout too and helps tone and sculpt those muscles,” adds Zama.

She is working on introducing the ‘Dancing in heels’ concept to locals. “I would like to introduce this concept in  Swaziland. It is originally created by South African based performer Takkies.

Empowered

Not only is dance fun and exciting but the heels factor makes women feel sexy and empowered. Adding heels to a dance definitely takes it to another level of fitness and skill and that is where one shall get the benefits of a great workout!”
These dance classes are targeted at adults and teenagers. You don’t have to be the best dancer, just as long as you have two legs to move your body, you can do it .

Studio-Z will be having an open day for free on the March 21, 2015 at the Manzini Club. A comfortable heel, towel and water bottle are compulsory for the day as there will be a lot of fun dance activities.
“Come one come all, it is going to be a great day and  trully hope people will see dance in a different light,” she assures.
