Following its gala success last week, Happy Streets is back in Kukatpally this Sunday to let Hyderabadis enjoy their morning, sans traffic & pollution
And it's that time of the week again when you ditch the bed early on a Sunday morning and hit the road instead for some fun and frolic. It's time for Happy Streets.
The city's biggest social event that has been garnering huge participation over the past few weeks, is all set to hit the Malaysian Township (Rain Tree Park) Slip Road once again this March 22 and bring with March 22 and bring wi it oodles of excitement for mana Hyderabadis.

For the uninitiated, here's a quick wrap ed, here's a quick wrap on just what's on offer at this grand street carnival. Like always, the 800 metre stretch will have dedicated corners for Zumba and yoga enthusiasts two activities that seem to have become a huge hit with regulars to the gala. To add to that, the event will provide space for those willing to indulge in a game of marbles, sack race or even gully cricket and football. In fact, to give the event an extra dash of zing and perhaps keep up with the mood of the ongoing World Cup - we will also organize a gully cricket tournament for participants this time around. The prize? Well, that's a surprise! Happy Streets that enters its seventh week this enth week this Sunday is being organized by The Times of India in association with the Cyberabad Traffic Police. As has been the tradition until now, n until now, the Slip Road in Kukatpally will be shut to vehicular traffic for three hours between 6 am and 9 am on the event day to allow denizens to reclaim the roads and throw their con cerns about traffic and pollution, to the winds.
"I am addicted to this "I am addicted to this event now," confessed 26-year-old Aditya P S who has attended almost every edition of Happy Streets, since its launch in the city. "I usually go to Necklace Road, as that's closer to my house. But now that it's happening in Kukatpally alone, I am travelling all the way from Khairatabad to par ticipate in it. This has become a part of my Sunday routine and I cannot do without it anymore," he said.

For homemaker Shanthi Srivastava too, a trip to Happy Streets is a must. "I am so caught up in my daily chores all through the week that I hardly get time for myself early in the morning. So Sunday is one day when I take a step back and allow myself to indulge in some `me-time' by participating in this event. I cannot put in words how glad I am that Happy S t re e t s h a s come to Hyderabad. It is a refreshing change," Srivastava said. So impressed is Pratima Parekh by the event that she hopes that organizers take the carnival to more streets in the city. "I really wish we can replicate it in other parts of the town. That will allow more and more people to participate and experience what only a fraction of the population is experiencing now. The concept is truly unique and it is important that it reaches out to a larger section of society," Parekh, an HR executive by profession, said. She also lauded the organizers for keeping up the tempo and not allowing the event to fizzle out after the first few appearances.
