FARIDKOT: Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema has ordered an inquiry into complaints of molestation of a government school principal by Faridkot deputy district education officer (DEO). Government Adarsh School principal Poonam Garg in December 2014, had accused Faridkot deputy DEO Suresh Kumar Arora of molesting her.
Arora was conducting a probe against Poonam for embezzling of school funds and irregularities in school records.
Last week, Arora had ordered termination Garg's services.
Bathinda deputy DEO Shiv Pal has been asked to inquire into the matter of molestation. He, along with Faridkot district science supervisor, Amarjit Sharma will look into complaints of molestation against Arora.
Working on the complaint of molestation against deputy DEO, Faridkot deputy commissioner on December 31, 2014, had withdrawn the powers of school administrator from Arora. Despite relinquishing charge of school administrator, Arora in his capacity as deputy DEO continued inquiring into embezzlement charges against Garg. Finding her guilty, last week he had ordered her termination from service. Arora is currently on medical leave.
Faridkot DC Mohammad Tayyab said, "Education department is inquiring into the matter. I had withdrawn the powers as administrator from Suresh Arora in December 2014 when complaint of molestation was made against him."
