Platform for youths to stay active

Putatan: Ranau Muay Thai Association believe that they can be a good platform for youths in the district to stay active in beneficial activities besides able to produce role models with outstanding attitudes and extraordinary patriotic spirit.Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said that sports were among the ways to promote healthy lifestyle in today's community in order to create competitive generation in many aspects.

The association's president, Zalfianadee Mohd Jaini said in an interview after meeting Tawfiq on Thursday morning that he will accept the suggestions proposed by the Minister and at the same time improve the association's performance in the future.

"Our motive was not only focused on sports but also as a platform for human resource development, therefore we prioritised not only fitness but to train our self-discipline in avoiding negative activities that surround us nowadays," he said.

He added that Muay Thai was not only to train our physical attributes but also to train our mentality to be more focused and improving our self-confidence.

The Muay Thai activities in Ranau had gained positive feedbacks from the community and now in its second year since establishment, they have more than 100 members from as young as 7 years old until 45 years old. – Umesh Rajan
