MLC polls: APUTF to back Lakshmana Rao

March 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Andhra Pradesh United Teachers Federation (APUTF) on Thursday alleged that several members of the ruling TDP were misusing government machinery and influencing voters in the run-up to election to the Krishna-Guntur Teachers’ constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.

“We came to know that the ruling party activists are distributing money to teachers at Tiruvuru, G. Konduru, Pamidimukkala and other places. The activists are also visiting educational institutions and threatening headmasters and teachers,” Federation general secretary P. Babu Reddy alleged.

The federation also urged the government to conduct the election in a free and fair manner.

The federation members submitted a memorandum to the Collector in this regard.
