Ugadi awards to be given today

EVV Kalavahini, a cultural organisation is presenting ‘Ugadi Purakskaramulu’ to various people from different walks of life on Friday evening. The event would be held on the premises of Venkateswara Swamy Devastanam at Brundavan Gardens.

Secretary Vechha Krishna Murthy said that S.K Rehman (Customs Commissioner), Madhu Shalini (cine heroine), Lenina Chowdary (cine singer), Priyanka (cine producer), Madala Venu (director), Gummadi Gopalakrishna (social service), G. Babu Rao (Medicine), Koganti Ranganayaki (education), Gudimella Kurmanath (spirituality) would be felicitated.

Sahiti Vasanthotsavam

‘Sahiti Vasanthotsavam’, an annual Ugadi event by Guntur-based Sahiti Samakhya, would be held at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram here on Saturday.

Secretary General, Supreme Court of India, V.S.R. Avadhani would be the chief guest at the programme. Writer Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, cine lyric writer Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar would the guests while popular composer Gorati Venkanna would be felicitated at the event.

Secretary, Sahiti Samakhya, S.V.S. Lakshminarayana said that the event would begin with Vishnusahasranama Parayana, followed by Nadaswarakacheri, veda pravachanam. Gudimella Kurmanatha Swamy would read out panchanga sravanam.

A host of Telugu literary personalities would speak on the occasion.
