Hamsa and Ugadi awards announced

The State government announced the Hamsa and Ugadi awards for eminent personalities for their contribution in different fields.

Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy on Thursday released the list of awardees. Music composer Balantrapu Rajani Kantha Rao was awarded the “Telugu Velugu Vishista” award and he will receive a memento and cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. Under the Hamsa (kalaratna) awards category 32 personalities were selected from, among others, Art, theatre, literature, music, dance, folk art, sculpture, mimicry and magic. Under the Ugadi awards category, 67 personalities were selected from different fields. The Hindu’s Senior Special News Photographer from Vijayawada, Ch.V.S.Vijaya Bhaskara Rao has been selected for conferment of the award in the photography category.
