RSPB, SSC want greater representation in BCCI

The Railways Sports Promotional Board and Services Sports Control Board, both institutional teams, which are not represented in any of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) committees, have asked the game’s governing body to induct their officials or former players.

It is learnt that top Railway official Rekha Yadav, who attended the BCCI’s AGM a few weeks ago in Chennai, made the request to BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur with regard to including their officials/former players in committees of the BCCI. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur confirmed that he had received requests not only from Railways but also from Services.

“We have received request from Railways and Services during the AGM. Subsequently, we have included the name of a Railway selector in the women’s selection committee,” Thakur said.

Railways has also asked the BCCI to consider its former players for posts. “The Railways and Services are integral to the BCCI and we will try to help them much as we can. A request was made and we have considered it,” Thakur added. Both the institutional teams have also requested the BCCI to improve infrastructure at their respective stadiums.
