NBI seizes P11M in used clothing in Cebu, 2 arrested

Some P11 million worth of ukay-ukay (used clothing) was seized and a Korean and a Filipina were arrested in a National Bureau of Investigation operation in Mandaue City in Cebu Thursday.

 

The NBI Central Visayas seized several bundles of used clothes from the warehouse in Barangay Paknaan, GMA Cebu's Alan Domingo reported.

 

The NBI agents were there to serve a search warrant on the warehouse. Outside the warehouse was a 20-footer van without license plates. It contained sacks of used shoes.

 

Arrested in the operation was Korean national Jonghoi Goo, and Filipina Cecille Belocura.

 

Goo was the alleged supplier of the used clothes while Belocura supposedly owned the items.

 

The NBI also asked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to have its K-9 units check the bundles of used clothes for drugs. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
