MILAN — Greenpeace has once again ranked Benetton Group as one of the world’s most sustainable companies.
The recognition was also bestowed to the Italian company in 2013. “When it comes to Detox, Benetton Group has continued to show its true, trend-setting colors,” Greenpeace said.
Benetton has in recent years initiated and endorsed the new “Dress Safely” project which guarantees full compliance with top chemical and mechanical safety standards.
The company participates in Greenpeace’s Detox program in a joint effort to lead the textile industry towards the complete elimination of harmful chemical substances by 2020.
Aiming for transparency, Benetton has already published information relating to approximately 50 percent of suppliers that use water in their production processes in China, and expects publication of this data to expand to up to 80 percent of the global supply chain by 2017.
