Eurozone's construction output up 1.9 percent


(MENAFN) Figures from Eurostat showed that production in the construction sector grew 1.9 percent in the 18-nation eurozone and by 1 percent in the 28-nation European Union (EU) in January, Xinhua reported.

The building construction, which rose by 2.3 percent, and civil engineering, which grew by 0.2 percent, contributed to the expansion in the euro zone, according to the European Union statistics office Eurostat.

Among EU member states, the highest increases in production in construction were observed in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany, and the largest decreases in Romania, the UK and Bulgaria.
