K. Rajeshwari, former president of Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee, Kolar and an ardent fan of D.K. Ravi, took soil from Kolar to be used in the last rites as a mark of affection and respect from the people of the district.

Hundreds of people staged a sit-in protest at premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday demanding that Mr. Ravi’s body be brought to Kolar so that people can pay last respects to the former beloved DC, who was termed ‘Kolar Chinna’ (Gold of Kolar).

However, since the body was taken from Bengaluru directly to Mr. Ravi’s native district Tumakuru, a large number of his admirers travelled to Tumakuru to participate in the last rites. Ms. Rajeshwari carried soil from the district and was in a vehicle behind the one which carried the mortal remains of Mr. Ravi.
